Under the leadership and planning of the IMT-2020 promotion group, China Mobile is currently preparing for the third phase of the 5G scale experiment in full swing. A 300-meter to 500-meter may require a 5G redesign.

It can provide a variety of new features that you can imagine, including express delivery, pesticides, construction, etc., and the imagination is very large.


Yi Zhiling said that in order to actively embrace the 5G era, the carrier network needs to become Soft&Green&Open&Smart.

We must learn the best friends and the most powerful enemy, OTT. Their characteristic is that they are flexible in their bones. They don’t need to change generations in ten or twenty years. They don’t need to use the year to calculate a new generation. Upgrade, they don't need years, no months, no weeks, no days. They can give you a version in the morning, and a new version will come out in the afternoon because they are very flexible. Today, our industry has no disputes about the need to soft, it is already a consensus. In the future, we hope to achieve end-to-end soft, the core network should be soft, the access network should be soft, and the air interface should be soft.

5G innovation is always on the road, and on the basis of flexibility, we must move towards Green. From 2011 and 2012, China Mobile began to research and develop cross-network collaborative energy conservation. The 2G, 3G and 4G networks are regarded as one system. With a single software, it can be fully managed, and the parameters can be re-adjusted every 15 minutes to re-optimize the base station. All the parameters are designed to provide the best guaranteed service in the most efficient way. The most efficient is that we can achieve the quality and flow of the local needs at that time with the least resources and the least power consumption. It is very helpful for provincial companies. The energy consumption of small base stations is about 1% to 2%, that is, 98% are not radiated. Large-scale base stations consume about 10% of energy. If 5G is deployed on a large scale in the future, the bottleneck of these two energy consumption must be broken.

On the Open side, China Mobile joined forces with the US-China German-French and Japanese operators to form an oran, which brought a big impact on the standard working group. At the Shanghai Bar Show in June, the oran was established. In addition to the five sponsors, there are seven operators. Now there are 12 operators, as well as chip manufacturers, equipment manufacturers and IT vendors waiting. Join, we can officially begin to open to accept new members, probably at the end of this month.

China Mobile is facing the road of open&smart. In 2015, it began to think about how to use wireless big data, which is the overwhelming data in the network to carry out the transformation and upgrading of the existing network. In the future, we will strive to use this data to achieve more network intelligence.
